Hey, let me ask you a question. Have you ever traveled to a certain part of the country or even a certain part of the world, and someone may have looked at you with that look that says, "You're not from around here, are you?" Well maybe we've all experienced that uneasy feeling about being in a place where we don't necessarily belong. We often times sing songs like "This World Is Not My Home" I'm just a passing through but you know the reality is that the apostle Paul in the book of Philippians understood that as believers, we actually have dual citizenship.
We are citizens here today. I'm a citizen of the United States of America. I therefore have responsibilities to live as a good citizen. That's only however a temporary citizenship, I also have a permanent citizenship and that is established in heaven. It happened the day that I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and now some day, I'm going to dwell in my eternal home.
Now until that day, until that day for all of us, we need to remember that we do have dual citizenships and for us to be here means that we need to represent our Savior well as citizens of this earth and then we also live expectantly because someday we're going to live with the King at the place where our citizenship is forever established.
Thank God that He has made us dual citizens, and thank God that some day one of them will be gone away forever and one we will enjoy for all eternity. Thank you for joining us here today at Rejoice in the Lord.
