INIUPDATE March 12th
So, after corresponding with LG UK Customer support, was initially offered a new panel swap etc for £250. However, as I live in Jersey(Island between France and the UK) they couldn't do this swap and so have said that if I can find a firm locally they will reimburse(against receipt ) me the cost of the panel and I will just have to pay for the technicians time etc to swap the tv modules from the old panel to the new panel. Local authorised LG TV repair firm contacted and arrangements to be made for collection etc once they give me an approximate costing.
UPDATE April 3rd
So after contacting the only authorised repair company, I was informed by them that they would charge me £70 to come out and look at the tv to diagnose the fault. After several e mails to LG highlighting my total disbelief to this, as clearly LG and I know the panel is faulty with screen burn etc, I again contacted the repair company ready for a verbal fight, only to be told that they have now contacted lg with my reference number and will arrange for LG to send a new panel directly to them and they will then charge me the labour to swap the modules etc from old tv to new tv. So they have seen sense and won't charge me the £70 diagnostic fee. Just waiting for news on the panel availability now.
ORIGINAL POST FEBRUARY......The story
I have several LG OLED TV's in my house. I am aware of brightness settings etc and pixel refreshing and all that, BUT, wasn't enough to stop my b7 panel getting the dreaded burn in. I've had Pioneer Plamsa TV's prior to these and after 9 years use never had any issues and the LG's replaced them.
I know the panel is out of warranty but in this day and age I don't expect having to buy a new TV after 5 years.
So folks I have started corresponding with LG to see if they can offer me ,as a loyal customer, something to keep me with the Brand, which I really do like and sort the panel out.
I am happy (kind of!) to even pay for a panel and swap the components across as its a 20 minute job.
The LG experience has been great so far and it was a close call between the Samsung LED or whatever they are called and the LG OLED.
Not sure if I would buy an OLED style TV again due to this problem, but the Blacks are amazing and off centre the viewing quality is very good.
