Anyway, I think there were some weaknesses to my commentary. Contrary to the title, I honestly think I was a little too soft on men, lmao.
While I don't think men deserve to face the negative pressures that they face, there are truly a lot of issues with male behavior in general, and I think people have every right to be frustrated by that. Unfortunately, many seem to vent that frustration in not particularly productive ways, and that doesn't mean the issues men face aren't at all worth addressing.
I think if we move away from a capitalist system in which the way we do work is fundamentally broken, and we dismantle the notion that men aren’t allowed to experience emotion of any kind, we will ultimately help men a whole lot.
But, that won't solve every issue facing men, and I do think regardless of the issues they face, many (most?) men today have some growing they can do in terms of being better people. If we concede that men today are indeed uniquely shitty in some ways, I'd want to invest more in education and critical thinking skills so that hopefully future men might not be as shitty.
Or something.
