"Heaven" is a ballad written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance and performed by Bryan Adams.
The song first appeared on the 'A Night in Heaven' soundtrack album in 1983 and was later included on Adams' album 'Reckless' in 1984.
It was released as the third single from 'Reckless' and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1985, over a year and a half after the song first appeared on record. The single was certified Gold in Canada in 1985.
I decided to get into the groove with this one, you'll also have noticed I've got the help of an accompanying backing track on my stereo to add to the experience [or inexperience].
Although "Heaven" is often seen as a cheesy 80s ballad, I think it has merit and this is why it has been re-recorded many times. The latest incarnation being DJ Sammy's dance version in 2002.
Another track which has a classic hook which is re-played and repeated. Proof that a lot of good music is simply a rhythmic and melodic pattern repeated (although this can't be said of "Mr Blobby").
Also note an effective use of two bars pause in this one, which is effectively silence.
'I'm finding it hard to believe...we're in heaven.'
