(San Francisco) - Assemblymember David Chiu (D-San Francisco) joined Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) at the new exhibit on Chinese American exclusion to announce they have secured $2.952 million in state funds to help preserve a structure on Angel Island once used to exclude Chinese and other immigrants. “We must not forget the history of immigration at Angel Island,” said Assemblymember Chiu. “As the son of Chinese immigrants, I know how important it is to remember the policies of exclusion at this Ellis Island of the West.
