denny zeitlin left his native chicago and relocated to san francisco in '64 and an internship at the university of california taking a course in psychiatry ...at the same time he continued in the world of jazz playing many of the city's clubs...here his trio play a live gig at 'the trident' in sausalito a club owned by frank werber the manager of the kingston trio....the group here are : charlie haden/denny zeitlin & jerry granelli with the group on fine form playing this beautiful zeitlin original 'quiet now' later covered by many including my favourite bill evans...jazz played an important part of the musical makeup for many of the emerging rock musicans with grace slick taking in many shows by archie shepp when he was in town...so many jazz great's played the trident and many recorded live albums there too...regulars were bola sete/vince guaraldi/bill evans/george duke/don scaletta trio etc and you can see the trident in the woody allen film 'play it again sam'...zeitlin also composed the music for 'jazzy spies' for the first season of 'sesame street' with vocal sounds by grace slick!..we have that already uploaded here on the channel if you want to hear it...he continues to play shows and his work as a psychotherapist....
