There is a bridge in Meghaalya that is alive. This root bridge in Meghaalya, is a completely natural bridge, made of the roots of the Ficus tree.
It can safely hold a maximum of, 50 people.
They even have double-decker bridges.
These bridges are naturally grown, by the Khaasi tribe, and the Jainthia tribe.
They use a bamboo frame, to support the growing roots, and in a few years, these roots grow onto the bamboo frame into strong bridges. Meghaalya is one of the wettest Indian states, which means that there is plenty of rainfall for these trees, to maintain these living root bridges. These eco-friendly bridges require no resources besides bamboo frames and adequate rainfall.
