On June 29th, at around 13:45 UTC (15:45 CEST), asteroid 2024 MK will make a close flyby of Earth, passing within the Moon's orbit. This asteroid, estimated to be between 120 and 270 meters in diameter, was only discovered on June 16th, a mere 13 days before its approach. While 2024 MK poses no threat to our planet, its late discovery underscores the importance of advancing our detection capabilities for potentially hazardous objects in space.
