Here's how I fixed it.
- Use a USB 2.0 port
- Install BOTH versions of the software - I tried using just the newer one but the older one seems to be running and I can't delete it. So I assume both. Use the NEW software to apply settings to the mouse. Do not use the old software.
- Update your Microsoft.net 3.5 Framework. This should happen through Windows update, but if it doesn't I'll post a link.
- This mouse uses the normal Microsoft HID driver. It doesn't NOT require a separate "driver" download. It DOES require a separate software download.
Use version 1.0.34.0 for RAT 8+. I can't speak for other models.
Here's a download link for the 1.0.34.0 software:

*I have not had any issues whatsoever with sensor skipping/tracking issues following these steps.*

MadCatz went bankrupt in 2017 YES, but they have reformed which is why this product is available. Quit saying they're non-existent or not a company because they ARE! 🙂
*******Now for the actual review.*******
As a gamer and an editor/studio musician, I LOVE this mouse.
The clicks are perfectly tacticle and reliable. The profile switching button is GREAT for setting up custom interfaces per program. The lighting is REALLY cool.
The matte finish is good and grippy without getting stick or grimy. The precision aim button is far improved over my old RAT 7 (though the positioning still sucks for claw grip users - That said, I never use this anyways).
The overall build quality is improved from older generations as is the software. I love the side scroll wheel for working in music and video editors. The little adjustment wrench is a better material.
NOTE ABOUT THE PROFILES:
The DPI is PER profile and the mouse will hold position 1,2,3, or 4 across profiles which is REALLY cool. Put simply, DPI is not global. So make sure you adjust all of those.
If you're new to this mouse - The thumb buttons are SUPERIOR to practically ever other mouse I've handled. They push against the frame instead of mushing against whatever support they're on 🙂
The thumb rest is GREAT.
While this mouse looks like a machine, the ergonomics are actually incredible. Seriously give this thing a go. One of the best on the market.
