The Lok Sabha elections are being held at a time when Manipur is in the throes of an ethnic conflict. The state's plains and the hill areas, home to the Meitei and Kuki communities, have drifted apart over the last one year, with many demanding that a separate administrative structure be carved out. As the poll dates near, many internally displaced families are calling for a boycott of voting, despite arrangements being made to enable them to vote near the relief camps.
