Gin, lemon juice, passionfruit, falernum, orgeat, milk
Havent made a milk punch in ages! This one comes from , taking advantage of the beautiful hue of empress gin. This cocktail is tropical and smooth, and adding the gin again at the end brings in the gorgeous color as well as the botanicals that usually get lost when milk punching. The original recipe called for 3/4 oz overproof rum, which i took out - i felt that it overpowered the gin flavor.
This milk punch took a bit though, and started working better once i used a cheesecloth as my main filter. I presume its because of the orgeat. It would probably milk punch faster if you had a store bought orgeat, but by simply changing the type of filter you can get really good results
5 oz gin
1.5 oz lemon juice
1.5 oz passionfruit syrup
.75 oz falernum
.75 oz orgeat
2 oz milk
combine 2.5 oz gin, lemon juice, passionfruit syrup, falernum, and orgeat and mix. in a separate vessel with milk, pour gin mix into milk. Stir, then wait for ~ 1 hour. Using a coffee filter or cheese cloth, pour cocktail mix into another vessel. Liquid should run cloudy, then clear. Once you notice this change, swap out for another vessel, and pour cloudy mix back through the filter. Wait until all liquid is pulled out. Bottle, and store in fridge.
To serve, pour 3.5 oz, stir with ice, and then pour over a large ice cube in a rocks glass.
