In the trailer, we saw that Natlan characters are going to participate in some kind of a tournament, and this tournament might potentially bring PvP mode to Genshin. So in this video, let's talk about this new PvP mode, when it will appear, and how it's going to work.

You may have noticed that Natlan's story is related to some kind of competition. In the recently released trailer, we can see a ball being passed from character to character. This ball is probably an invitation to an event that we will witness in the Archon Quest starting from version 5.0. Some characters are excited, some don't really care, and some even hate it. Most likely, as soon as we step foot in Natlan, we will find this ball, and the Traveler will participate in the tournament as well.

But what's more interesting is that this story-related event might bring a new PvP mode to Genshin.

About two weeks ago, there was information that a PvP mode would appear in 5.0. The source of this information is Uncle W, who correctly predicted the skins and story of 4.8. According to this source, Natlan has faction battles and ring battles.

I didn't really pay attention to this news at first, but after watching the Natlan trailer where characters are being invited to the competition event, it makes sense.

The whole Natlan trailer revolves around the big tournament, and we even have a ring stage.

So, probably, we will have some kind of new mode or mechanics in the game after Natlan is released.

Of course, there is a chance that the insider just mistook the PvP mode with the Archon Quest or just some kind of event. So take this info with a grain of salt.

There have been talks of a PvP mode in Genshin Impact for a while, but I guess it is very difficult to implement in the game. The most important thing will be the balance between F2P players and whales, for example. Or imagine using a freeze team in PvP—that wouldn't be fair.

It also might be something like an obstacle event or some kind of competitive event, as seen in the Lantern Rite event, rather than regular combat.

We already have a PvP mode in Genshin, and it's TCG. This is a permanent game mode added in version 3.3. It is a two-person turn-based collectible card game based on the mechanics of the game. I've barely played this card game, so I can't really say anything.

Adding a full PvP mode has its own pros and cons. If the PvP mode is well balanced, it may bring new players to the game or encourage old players to return. On the other hand, balancing this mode will be the most challenging for developers.

On top of that, adding PvP mode might bring toxicity to the game. I don't think that many people experienced it in the game, maybe somewhere in social media, but this PvP mode might change that.
