I Replaced Battery on MacBook Air 2012. When battery is replaced make sure to reset MSC feature or Management System Controller so the battery works properly and computer starts properly.
So you just replaced the battery???
Maybe right away or 2-3 days later your Mac started acting out. Follow the these steps to make your Mac to power properly, whether is dead or it starts only when it is plugged in.
1. Computer starts randomly, or only when you plug it in or it doesn’t starts at all.
a. Shut power down in your Mac.
b. Unplug Mac from power source.
c. Remove back cover with proper tools.
d. Unplug battery, and if necessary remove but you can leave it in place.
e. While back cover is removed, power unplugged and battery is disconnected. PRESS power button on keyboard for 5 seconds. Make sure to count 5 seconds.
f. Reconnect battery, screw back cover in. Be careful not to damage the board. Clean dust as necessary. I used a wet damp to remove dust, then a dry tissue to dry without pouring water anywhere over the board.
i. Once you have properly reconnected battery and replaced the back cover. Connect the power cord, regardless whether it was 💯 percent charged or not.
j. PRESS power button as you would normally do for 1-2 seconds. Your Mac should start.
Top 5 reasons why it won’t start:
The battery you replaced it with it’s defective.
The battery you purchased has no chip in it, thus the Mac won’t recognize it.
Another component has been internally damaged maybe to excessive overheating. That’s when you hear fans go on the Mac go on quite too loud and too often.
Double check power cord and connecting devices. Maybe they no longer good.
Check power outlet at home with other devices. Some older homes electrical wiring could be in bad shape. Think of anything else. Please write it down in the comments.
Whether your computer starts plugged in or not. Follow these steps to get your power going. These steps maybe applicable to Mac Book Air or Pros from 2011-2017.
