Hi everyone! I am back in my home country of South Africa and exploring some places off the beaten track. Join me as we visit some incredible yet mysterious places that many South Africans don't even visit.

In this video, I visit the historic town of Matjiesfontein. It is situated in the Great Karoo region, just off the N1 about 235km from Cape Town.

Join me as we learn about the small town, the role that Scotsman James Douglas Logan played in the development of the town, the town's history and role during the Anglo Boer War (or South African War), the Lord Milner hotel's haunted reputation as well as the significance of the railways and cricket in this part of the world. Throughout the vlog, we will also stumble across the Pink Church, Laird Arms Pub, the Olive Schreiner cottage and the Marie Rawdon Museum, and learn a few "firsts" about Logan's farm Tweedside.

It feels like a bit of Victorian Britain sliced out and placed here in the South African countryside.
