The famous musical setting of Stabat Mater was written by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi in 1736. Its music is full of pain and sorrows, but also hope and gratitude.
Young ensemble Soli Deo Gloria performed the piece in a series of Lent concerts in April 2019. In this video, we present you the introductory duet Stabat Matet dolorosa as we played it in Rusovce, Slovakia on April 6, 2019.

Ascending Calvary, we see Mary standing and weeping under the Cross on which her Son has been crucified. Ascent to Calvary is steep and exhausting. Imagine how hard it must have been for Jesus to carry his cross, while walking the same path.
