A short video to explain how to progress from a J Stroke into the more efficient and less tiring Guide Stroke which is also called the Canadian Stroke. The Guide Stroke is most beneficial to paddlers who spend long days on the water and want to preserve energy. The hardest part in learning how to to do this properly is getting the feel for how to catch and divert the water used to power the canoe forward into seamlessly diverting that into countering the natural tendency for the canoe to turn away from the side of the canoe being paddled.
