00:00 Big Data: is it smaller than you think?
00:06 Data is everywhere. Yet many IT leaders struggle to know how to use big data in their organisation. There is a high level of complexity in deriving true value from data, even with a team of data scientists.
00:18 The time afforded to IT systems to provide benefits to their organisation is shrinking, due to increased competition and technology disruption.
00:27 We conducted research with EY Sweeney about the challenges IT leaders face in managing their data needs. The results were fascinating but one question stood out: when we asked “what is the number one challenge in managing big data?”, we received several equally weighted responses.
00:45 15% of participants said the number one challenge is the accuracy of the data
00:50 15% said it was compiling and arranging data
00:55 14% said getting access to data is the biggest challenge
00:59 14% said it was about keeping up-to-date with technology
01:03 12% cannot identify their greatest challenge
01:07 It’s no surprise then that 7 out of 10 participants cannot identify the cost savings or extra revenue that can be gained from utilising big data.
01:16 So what does all this mean? Simple data represents a targeted approach to delivering improved performance. When matched with the right communications and technology, data-driven insights are within reach of all businesses.
