I believe that this black & white version was actually the first version created and the color version was released later.
It's been upscaled to 4K, with the frame rate increased to 60 fps. It looks higher quality, but without attempts to enhance the picture quality that end up altering it.
The video was directed by famous fashion photographer Herb Ritts and stars Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Djimon Hounsou. It was Janet's first "sexy" video.
Fun fact: this song was written to be a duet between Janet and Prince, but that obviously never happened.
