Here is our lawyer prime minister Malcolm Turnbull predicting with certainty how the High Court of Australia would decide the case of the dual-citizenship saga involving Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce. Yes, you heard me right, our Deputy PM is called Barnaby. Only in Oztraylia (and New Zealand, since he was a New Zealander dual citizen when elected multiple times over the past 12 years).
The court decided the Joyce did violate Section 44 of the constitution, so nullified his status as a parliamentarian. What was the High Court margin, you ask? Ah... seven nil. Nice one, Malcolm.
(I read Section 44; it's just a couple of paragraphs. There is no other possible view of the meaning its wording.)
As the 2 Greens MPs (who resigned immediately, sparking the entire saga) said: "Our legal advice is that we are done." So they resigned, there and then.
