A lot of times, you will hear boxers say that Wing Chun does not work. However, they often utilize trapping techniques while in the ring or during sparring. Trapping involves briefly immobilizing an opponent's limbs to create a momentary opportunity for striking when they are unable to defend themselves. This technique effectively eliminates your opponent's defensive barriers. Wing Chun specializes in controlling the centerline and employing trapping techniques. Although Wing Chun is considered a traditional martial art, trapping and seizing an opponent's center can also be observed in various sport martial arts such as boxing. Kevin Goat discusses how boxers incorporate trapping into their strategies and suggests that the two disciplines should collaborate instead of competing against each other.
