Rajendra Singh started his career as a doctor in 1980. However, he left his government job after some time. Later, when he went to the village of Gopalpura in Rajasthan, he realized that people needed water more than medicines.
The village women used to walk 9 kilometers to fetch water. But Rajendra Singh found a solution to this problem. In ancient times, people used a method called Johad. In this method, they created small ponds to collect rainwater.
This also helped to increase the groundwater level. With the help of the villagers, he created many Johads. This solved the village's water problem, but the mining mafias did not like it.
They attacked Rajendra Singh several times, and he even went into a coma for 20 days. However, he did not stop his work and has solved the water problem in 1,200 villages. This is why he is famously known as the Waterman of India.
