There seems to be a lot of interest in my Garmin related videos so I thought I would start a series dealing with some of the more common but critical software tools you should be aware of to get the most out of your Garmin fish finder/chart plotter. In today's episode, we'll show you how to install the latest software updates on your Garmin Echomap, Echomap Chirp or Echomap Plus units as I run the updates on my 93SV / 95SV units and show you what equipment you need and even exactly how to format your SD Card to save and run the updates.

It's critical to always update your units to get the most out of the latest software updates and features and to remove bugs that could cause your unit to freeze or cause other issues in terms of functionality. You need your Garmin gear running as smooth and as reliably as possible, and updating the software is key.
