Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Tuesday that the province would be releasing a COVID-19 Safety Plan Guide toolkit, as more regions in the province prepare to enter Stage 2 of Phase 2 of reopening.
Ford said the toolkit builds on supports that have already been provided to businesses, and would help businesses identify risks, “take steps to make their workplace safe,” as well as help them to develop their own tailored safety plan.
The announcement was made alongside Minister of Health and Deputy Premier Christine Elliott and Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
Ford announced additional regions on Monday that have been given the green-light to proceed with Stage 2 of Phase 2 of the regional reopening process in the province starting June 19. Toronto, Peel Region and Windsor-Essex will continue to be excluded. Under Stage 2 of Phase 2 reopening, shopping malls, barbershops and hair salons could reopen, while restaurants and bars could reopen their patios under health guidelines.
Ontario reported 184 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the provincial total to 32,554. The death toll in the province has risen to 2,538, as 11 more deaths were reported.
