There are new advancements in AI every day and people are questioning what types of jobs will be taken over by this new technology. Some people may even ask, can AI replace management and managers?

To answer this question we first have to look at what it is that managers do. Managers are put in place to enforce protocols, make tough decisions and lead teams. In my opinion, I think that AI could replace bad managers. If an algorithm could be created to allow AI to make difficult decisions they could actually eliminate the guesswork and emotional decision making processes in order to make better choices than humans. In that aspect they could take over. With bad managers that is all they are doing is making decisions. So they could potentially be replaced.

Good managers, however, don’t just make decisions. They lead people, they engage, inspire, connect and empower. Software is not able to do this. Software cannot empathize or sympathize with employees. So do I think AI could replace managers? I think it could replace bad managers, but not good ones. Hopefully the infusion of AI will help bring out better managers who really focus on great employee experience.
