Over a dozen African leaders, along with prominent global climate advocates, have gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the inaugural Africa Climate Summit. This significant event aims to tackle the growing impact of climate change on the African continent and the resultant economic burdens.
The central theme of this five-day summit, organized jointly by the Kenyan government and the African Union, is "Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World." It seeks to explore strategies for sustainable development while addressing the urgent need for climate financing in Africa.
Despite contributing only 2 to 3 percent of global carbon emissions, Africa has borne the brunt of climate change. The United Nations has underscored this disparity, highlighting Africa's vulnerability to the adverse effects of global warming.
