+ve voltage are applied to the Common pin of the relay and the output will taken from the Noramlly Closed (NC) points, so that the output will available at output when the relay if OFF.
if a good polarity voltage enter in protection circuit, the relay winding will remain off due to revere biased diode , which comes in series with the relay coil. so the +ve output voltage will reach to the load from the Normally Closed (NC) points.
when the polarity is reversed the series diode will allow the current to flow in winding and it will energize the relay coil so the relay will shift its points to Normally Open Points, a Reverse polarity indicator LED is connected at relay's NO points. the LED will glow and it will indicate that the input terminals are reversed in polarity
