STORYLINE:
Thousands of people gathered in the centre of Rome on Saturday to celebrate the return of the "Rome Gay Pride" in the streets of the Italian capital after the COVID lockdown.
LGBTQIA+ activists filled the Roman streets with colours and music in the parade from "Piazza della Repubblica" (Republic Sqaure), in front of the Termini railway station, to reach "Piazza Venezia" (Venice Square).
Pride participants demonstrated not only for the right to choose whichever sexuality without being discrimanted, but also for the right to not being discriminated because of the colour of their skin or because of different religious beliefs.
"Why do we need to say: 'you are a man, a woman, Hebrew, Christian or Muslim?'," said Fabrizio Teragnoli, a Roman tailor participating in the Rome Pride. "I'm a human being and I'm here (to demonstrate) for (these) rights."
