This video series discusses in-depth some of the more common oral pathologic conditions I see in my clinical practice. This video reviews the leukoplakia, the clinical term for a white patch in the mouth. Leukoplakia is only a clinical term and biopsy is almost always indicated to establish a true, histologic diagnosis. The possibilities for a true diagnosis include hyperkeratosis (the most common by far), epithelial dysplasia/"precancer", and squamous cell carcinoma/oral cancer (the least common).
