The series pays homage to two horror franchises. In the Spellman living room, the ceiling has the same color glass as the ceiling in Suspiria, which is also about a coven of witches. There is also a scene where Harvey falls asleep with headphones on, and he also is wearing a crop top. This is a reference to Johnny Depp’s character in Nightmare on Elm Street. Also, not only does this show share the same universe as Riverdale, but it seems to share a universe with Supernatural as well. The black Chevy Impala can be seen in the background of multiple shots.
