A Big Problem
Over 34 million disabled people worldwide do not have access to prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) devices that would reduce poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and premature death. Disabled persons are also frequently ostracized; and the ability of disabled children to play with other children or even attend school is often compromised.
The problem stems from a global shortage of trained P&O technicians and a lengthy and expensive production process in most developing countries.
Our Solution
The project scales up a proven 3D-printing technology that dramatically improves the productivity of trained P&O technicians, significantly shortens traditional production processes and reduces costs. The project also builds more inclusive communities through ability-centered learning activities.
Hope and Healing International joins with seven partners to present this impactful, evidence-based project that will lift millions out of the poverty-disability cycle and permanently transform the prosthetics and orthotics industry. And we cannot wait to get started.
