A simulation created by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the most detailed model of the early universe to date. Thesan, named after the Etruscan goddess of the dawn, shows the developing universe through time by combining models of galaxy formation with an algorithm that tracks how light interacts with gas and a model for cosmic dust. The simulations align with the few observations astronomers have of the early universe.
