The South Korean defence company Hanwha Aerospace, in collaboration with the Polish defence industry, has handed over18 K239 Chunmoo launchers to the Polish Armed Forces. An additional 36 systems are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year.
As part of a significant contract signed with Poland’s defence procurement agency (Armament Agency) the Polish Armed Forces are set to receive 218 K239 Chunmoo Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS). The contract, valued at USD 3.5 billion, was signed in November 2022.
Robert Szelenbaum, a senior manager at Hanwha Aerospace Europe – a European branch of Hanwha Aerospace headquartered in Warsaw, Poland – stated that the Polish Armed Forces have already received 18 K239 Chunmoo launchers. Another 36 systems are anticipated to be delivered by the end of 2024. Between 2025 and 2026, the Polish Armed Forces are expected to receive a total of 144 launchers.
