The Medicare Annual Election Period, or the fall Medicare enrollment period, is from Oct. 15th - Dec 7th. Plan changes made during this time will generally go into effect on Jan 1st 2024. Here is what you CAN do during this time frame:
1. Change your Part D drug plan or enroll in a Part D plan
2. Change your Medicare Advantage Plan, or enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)
3. Drop your Medicare Advantage Plan and return to Traditional Medicare
Here is what you CANNOT do (in most states):
1. Change your Medicare Supplement Plan without passing through medical underwriting (Medicare Supplements can be changed year round, and usually medical underwriting/health questions will apply).
2. Apply for Parts A or B if you missed your initial enrollment window and do not qualify for a Special enrollment period.
