Kenya has made great strides in tackling the HIV epidemic in recent years. However, these efforts continue to be threatened by the increasing numbers of new HIV infections among key populations, with female sex workers more likely to contract HIV than other women of reproductive age. A programme supported by United Nations for Population Fund and International Centre for Reproductive Health is however helping female sex workers protect themselves from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
