Suspended MPs on December 18, sat on the stairs of Parliament's Makar Dwar, staging a protest with the aim of having their suspension revoked. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi met them while entering the House. Last week, a total of 14 opposition MPs faced suspension from Parliament for the rest of the session due to their disruption of proceedings related to the Lok Sabha security breach incident. The Opposition has persistently called for a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah on the matter. In Rajya Sabha, Trinamool Congress's Derek O'Brien was suspended, while in Lok Sabha, 13 opposition MPs faced suspension. Deputy Leader of the House and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in the Lok Sabha last week, urged unity in condemning the incident, emphasizing that protesting within the House was futile.
