Our immune system’s relationship with cancer is very complex. Certain types of immune cells called regulatory T-cells, while vital for a balanced immune system, can hinder the cancer-killing process. Targeting these cells without affecting other immune cells in the past has been difficult. Cancer Research UK scientists from University College London in collaboration with Roche have developed a new drug that can stop regulatory T-cells from working while leaving other immune cells intact to fight the cancer cells. Watch this drug in action in this short animation.
