Have a Freewheel? Have a Folding Chair? You may have found real difficulty in getting the perch to work so you can hang your Freewheel up on your chair when you're done using it.
Here's a solution for mounting the perch on the VERTICAL backrest bars.
Here are a few tips for installation if you'd like to try this method:
- You'll need to have some of the bar exposed. If your backrest slid over the whole bar, you may need to cut a square of fabric out to expose some of the bar.
- Make sure you mount it high enough so that your Freewheel doesn't drag against the ground or bump the wheel. In the video, you'll see that mine is mounted at an angle. Experiment with positioning so that it works for you.
- With more parts screwed together and the Freewheel further away from the chair, it has the potential to make the whole perch slip down and make your Freewheel slip on the ground. USE LOCTITE on all screw threads and make sure to tighten it well.
- We can help you to get the parts you need. You will need to measure the diameter of your vertical backrest bars. Here are the corresponding part numbers for perches of different sizes:
Have 3/4" Bars? You'll need a P032 perch piece.
Have 7/8" Bars? You'll need a P034B perch piece.
Have 1" or larger bars? You'll need a P034A perch piece.
This system is NOT GUARANTEED TO FIT, especially if your vertical backrest bars are more than 1/2" larger than any of the sizes listed above. But, it might just be the solution you need if you have a folding wheelchair and are struggling to carry the Freewheel around with you.
