The railways of Taiwan include conventional rail, rapid transit systems, and high-speed rail, as well as specialized railways for tourists and industry. This video will be focusing on Taiwan railways, which was introduced to Taiwan in 1891 during its late Qing era. It was in quite a bad shape, all the way till 1895, when the Japanese arrived. Reconstruction began shortly after til it was back in working condition. Throughout the years railways continued to evolve, even introducing high speed rail in 2007, similar to Japan’s Shinkansen. To this day still strongly tied to the Japanese culture, Taiwan railway bentos being one of them much like ekiben with delicious side dishes and much more, let us take you on a journey into the world of Taiwan Railways.
