Alexey Troitsky is considered to be one of the greatest composers of chess endgame studies and is widely regarded as the founder of the modern art of composing chess studies
Troitsky's first book of studies "500 Endspeilstudien" was published in 1924 in Berlin in German language. In the preface to this edition it is stated that the book was written in a hurry, the greater part only from memories, because before being given to the publisher, its manuscript was destroyed by fire.
Therefore a lot of inaccuracies "appeared" in his puzzles and this particular one is not an exception. This endgame study was processed by Genrikh Kasparian in 1958. In the initial position Troitsky placed the King on h7. In this case the study has no solution because after the check on d6 the King can escape by stepping on c6 and it's a draw! The trivial movement of the king to g7 square solves the problem!
