At the 2014 DTG Symposium, Al Hodges, owner of Highland Dental Arts, talks about the impact the Dental Technician Guild has had on his work. "Being a dental technician is difficult," he says. "Having a network of technicians you can call on anytime for help with techniques and for support, it really helps." Al also finds inspiration in the artistry displayed by fellow technicians. They're high end work challenges him to improve his own work to match. Al particularly appreciates the quality of tools and materials from GCA. After having a chance to test a new ceramic kit from GC, he marvels that it's great both for production work and for high-end dental restoration. "It took my work to another level," he says. "This (new ceramic) stuff is awesome. I can fire it and get beautiful density and beautiful clarity and nothing moves." The Dental Technicians Guild, Al believes, elevates the work of the dental technician and provides a platform where the best artisans in dental restoration work can support and learn from each other. "Dental technicians that do really high end work will be in big demand," he says. The DTG and GC give him everything he needs to do that really high end work.
