In Edmonton, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney provides an update on the province's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He is joined by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, and Dr. Verna Yiu, president and CEO of Alberta Health Services. Jason Copping, the minister of health, takes part in the update from Calgary. The province is expanding third dose eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to all residents who are 70 and older; First Nations, Métis and Inuit people 18 and over; all those who received two doses of viral vector vaccines such as AstraZeneca; and any healthcare workers who provide direct patient care and received their second dose less than eight weeks after their first dose.
