My first Ableton tutorial with voiceover, pardon my rambling.
A different than the typical filter modulation way to create dubstep style modulated bass patches in Ableton. Operator is one of the synths in the Ableton Suite package. This is an FM or additive wobble, compared to the filtered or subtractive wobble.
The key is modulating the volume of the operators that are modulating the carrier, and reserving one operator to act as a built in sub-bass. This creates a more wavetable like modulated sound, more like when you modulate the wavetable position when you use Native Instruments Massive.
