Exploring the abandoned 16th century Frankopan Castle, in the village of Severin na Kupi, Croatia. Abandoned and in a state of decay.
A message from someone who attempted to start restorations:
"My father told me how the castle was hit during a bombing and the people in the village then took the things that were left from the castle to their houses - there you can still find a few pieces of furniture from the castle today. But I didn't see any of that except some wood carvings at my uncle's who inherited the house from my grandpa. However, those were things from Arko (Franck, Badel) so nothing from Frankopan.
After that, the Italian soldiers were probably still in the castle - so in WW2. After that the castle ran a business as a hotel and restaurant - I think I can remember going there with my parents in the late 70's. The current division of the rooms as well as the rest of the garbage in it goes back to them.
On the slope side there is also a path to the bathing place of the lords of the castle under the castle - there was also a pump for fresh water in the castle.
There were tennis courts in the park, and the benches, some of which are still standing, were built by my father at the end of the 90s when he freed the garden from thorns and overgrowth on his own."
