If you have been with me for a while (on YouTube or Instagram @jamila_musayeva), you probably know about my fascination for Audrey Hepburn. I grew up admiring her as an actress, woman and humanitarian. She was my role model. I even had a poster from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” in my university dorm room. Mind you, I never had posters of boy bands or crushes. Audrey was my only and ultimate woman crush.
Making this short video was on my to-do list for the longest time. I had the dress, accessories- all ready to shoot. Then pandemic hit. We planned this shoot twice and cancelled due to weather conditions, personal circumstances. Early this morning when I was on my way to the shoot, my videographer sent me a photo of roadblocks that have been placed for Formula 1 (we host it every year in Baku) right in front of Tiffany’s. I completely forgot about them. Imagine how I felt at that moment: that universe somehow did not want me to do this shoot. Then, I remember when “life gives you lemons, make a lemonade.” And we did. Here is our lemonade: my tribute to Audrey Hepburn and to everything she stood for.
As I got this off of my bucket list, I added a new one: take part in a biopic movie about her.
