Yury Dolgorukiy (АПЛ Юрий Долгорукий) K-535 was first of Project 955 class submarine done for Russian navy and this packaging is for third and last boat of this class: K-551 Vladimir Monomakh (АПЛ Владимир Мономах). I think it is interesting as Borei-A Class boats were constructed from unfinished hull sections from Akula class attack submarines and Oscar class cruise missile submarines.
Nice box art in Zvezda style box in another rigid cardboard box. Not too many parts. All sprues are individual plastic bags. Unfortunately the plastic is black so seams are hard to see and there is some sink marks and surface is not smooth.
There is quite a bit parts for this boat, but it doesn't feel that much. Hull is multiple parts and bow is separate from the rest of the sides plus there is upper part, This is quite clever as the seams go to natural places and it minimizes filling. There are some bulkheads too to give some rigidity to the hull. There is optional parts so that several parts can be posed open or closed.
I decided to do everything else, but torpedo loading hatch open. There are two RSM-56 Bulava SLBM missiles (NATO designation SS-N-32) with loading cradle and I had to do those both
This time I decided to weather the boat more heavily and I used oil paints for that.
