Lux Row Distillers recently released a beefed up version of their ultra budget Ezra Brooks Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, this time clocking in at 99 proof instead of the typical 90. This new expression carries a price tag of around $25, boasts a very attractive new bottle, and features the "99" in big lettering on the front of the label. Yes, this is all great marketing (in fact, it's even drummed up some hype here in Ohio), but does the bourbon itself actually stand out in an already flooded market of widely available $25-30 bottles? Check out my thoughts on the subject as I answer the question of whether or not we really needed this Ezra Brooks 99.
