When Love Bleeds – The Blood of JESUS Redeems and Forgives Me
1. The Price Paid to Purchase Our Freedom Was Jesus’ Shed Blood
Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
● Redemption – released secured by the payment of a ransom,
deliverance, setting free from every yoke of bondage
● A conqueror releasing prisoners; a master ransoming a slave
● Redemption through Christ’s blood breaks the power of Satan and
sets man free from all of his bondages
Jn 8:32,36 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you
free.” 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Gal 5:1, 7-9 (NIV) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand
firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of
slavery. (NKJV) 7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the
truth? 8 This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. 9 A
little leaven leavens the whole lump.
Matt 12:43-45 (NIV) When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it
goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it
says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the
house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and
takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in
and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the
first. (We have been set free but now we must fill the house LSOF)
Col 1:13-14 (NIV) For he has rescued (Delivered) us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
2. Through His Blood, I Am Forgiven
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old
things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
● The blood of Jesus forgives and restores man to His righteousness
so he can once again stand in the Father's presence, without
shame or guilt
1 Jn 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may
not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate (The attorney who
stands by our side) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
● Forgiveness is a relationship word – when a child of God sins, he
breaks his fellowship with the Father, not his relationship
● Just as a husband and wife do when they say an unkind word, it
destroys the fellowship of the home, but that can be restored by
asking for forgiveness
● The moment we sin and fellowship with the Father is broken, we
must confess our sins and He will forgive and cleanse us
● The devil wants to keep you and me out of prayer with guilt
1 Jn 1:7,9 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if
we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know
that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we have asked of Him.
Js 5:16 The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and
produces wonderful results. (a guilty conscience can't accomplish this)
Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
