In this video I'm talking about ten fun facts about whit Port. This wine is produced in the northern part of Portugal in a Douro Valley, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage site list. White port like other Ports is a fortified wines, which means that fermentation process is interrupted half way by adding a grape spirits (Brandy), this process rising the level of alcohol and keeping the natural sweetness from the grapes . In 1934 Taylor's Port house introduced Chip White Port as a new aperitif style of Port. White Ports are categorized by the level of sweetness from extra dry to very sweet. The sweetest version of white Port is called Lagrima, which means tears and is regarding to beautiful viscosity of the wine. The most common grape varieties used for white Port production are Viosinho, Gouveio, Malvasia and Ribagato. High quality white Port can be also labelled w.ith a designation of age 10, 20, 30 and even 40 years old. White Port should be serve in between 8-10°C which is 46-50°F, sweeter version of white Port will benefits from serving slightly warmer in between 10-13°C which is 50-55°F.
