There is a severe shortage of family doctors in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. To help solve this challenge, WHO joined forces with key partners to launch a two-year Regional Professional Diploma in Family Medicine.
Countries of the region are joining together on 15 December 2022 to sign a call for action, supporting the Diploma, taking an important step to build capacity in family medicine. Ultimately, that will enhance health system resilience throughout the Region. By signing the call for action, countries and entities are demonstrating their readiness to work together to create a favorable environment for the implementation of the Diploma, to ensure its wide professional acceptance in national systems across the region, strengthening family medicine as a critical part of efforts to achieve universal health coverage and realize our regional vision of Health for All by All.
