How much a 400K home would actually cost you monthly 


Now, I will be using national averages here, so some numbers will depend on your location and provider.

5% down payment puts you at $20,000 upfront

30-year mortgage @ 6.5% rate, the combined principal and interest rate would be $2,401

Now some additional costs will be:

Property tax  $250/mo
Homeowners insurance $125/mo
Private Mortgage insurance (if dp is below 20%) at an average 740 credit score you’re looking at about $100 a month. 

So all in to own a $400k right now is about  $2,876 a month
